Hanady Alhashmi is an Emirati Female Mountaineer from Abu Dhabi, UAE

Hanady Alhashmi has achieved impressive heights in more ways than one. She is a dreamer with a soul always yearning for adventure and the discovery of nature’s hidden beauty. Her journey began with curiosity as she explored the fascinating land and history of the UAE and Oman. Discovering old settlements and villages along mountain cliffs of Ras Alkhaimah, she was enthralled by the fascinating sights and fell in love with the process of hiking and climbing to reach them. Some of these settlements were easily reached by a short hike, while others loomed above, daring travelers to take a more rigorous trip up the mountainside.

Getting a taste of the exhilaration mountain climbing has to offer and the thrill of discovering a new perspective, Hanady knew that she had to put her energy into this new passion and continue climbing higher. She started working hard to build her endurance for long hikes while learning everything she could about the sport, increasing her confidence and skill. Transitioning from short trips to day-long treks through mountainous terrain, she began to enjoy the challenge. As her skill grew, so did her love for climbing. While challenging herself and growing as an individual, she also immersed herself in the community joining groups with other climbers.

Through dedication to training and with the support of the climbing community behind her, Hanady has achieved victories that were once just distant dreams. Now, as a skilled mountaineer, she has the distinction of having climbed five of the “Seven Summits” as well as becoming the first Emirati woman to successfully reach the top of North America’s highest mountain peak, ‘Denali’. She is proud of the feats she has accomplished and has no plans to slow down and aims to finish all Seven Summits. As she continues pushing forward, seeking out new peaks to conquer, Hanady is thrilled for the opportunity to reach new heights and hopes to motivate others to achieve their own goals and dreams.
